History
Highland Park was founded in 1889, as the second suburban community of Chattanooga. Through its more than 125 years of history, community, and industry, Highland Park remains one of the most convenient neighborhoods in the area. Our community stretches across more than 1000 residences, with McCallie on the North, Willow to the East, Holtzclaw to the West, and Main on the South. Within this community, you will find a variety of people, from all sorts of backgrounds. We are locals. We are from across the country. We are from overseas. We have a variety of jobs and interests. By creating lasting connections with one another, we are growing, every day, into a richer, harmonious community of active and engaged citizens. Our grid street pattern makes it convenient to truly "take a walk around the block", easily meet neighbors, find local businesses, and navigate throughout the community. While there are a lot of people here, everyone always seems close. We are also close to community amenities -- in fact, every Highland Park home is within nine blocks of a public park, with the majority of homes being within three blocks of a park. Five community-friendly thoroughfares run through Highland Park, making the whole city just a short drive or bike away. We are easily connected to Downtown, Brainerd, US HWY 24, and North of Chattanooga.
